Research
Are You A High Achiever?
As part of Kathleen Johnston's ongoing research, you are invited to participate in the current study and efforts to gather information that will be of significant benefit to women much like yourself—a high achieving woman juggling the demands of career and life.
Kathleen defines the term "career" as that which refers to all of the paid and unpaid work and roles carried out by women in our culture. This distinction is important, as a significant amount of “women's work" continues to be the nurturing and care-giving roles associated with the management of our home and family. These roles are most often carried out for love rather than for money. The addition of a paid business or professional role to the roles described above results in what we often refer to as a high achieving woman.
Conversely, Kathleen defines the term "high achieving woman" as “a woman with intentional goals who accomplishes them through effort, skills, and perseverance.”
Learning about the experiences of others in similar circumstances can often bring not only clarity but important validation to our own situation. Kathleen's motivation for this research is the lack of study, materials, and stories that serve to recognize, understand, and substantiate the daily experience and accomplishment of many ordinary women whose efforts are often quite extraordinary.
Kathleen broadens the usual concept of the word "career" plus use of the term "high achiever" deliberately because she wants to recognize and celebrate the significant contribution women make through both paid and unpaid work.
An Invitation From Kathleen Johnston
I invite you to share your information with me, confidentially, as you represents the real life experience of a high achieving woman. Your response to the following questions will then join a compilation of responses from other women, not unlike yourself, who are open to supporting this project.
As an outcome, I make a commitment to create opportunities for each of us to share and recognize in one another—praise for the high achieving woman. I will create "articles of interest" or "tips for success" specific to high achieving women, and make this information available at no cost, either on my website or by way of Woman @ Work—a monthly newsletter designed to address issues and topics relevant to women, their careers, and lives. At no time will names be used, and all responses will be held in the absolute strictest of confidence.
To participate, simply email me using the following address link, kj@kathleenjohnston.com, responding directly to the questions that will auto-publish within the body of your email.
Join me in celebrating high achieving women. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Johnston, MA
