Organizational Resource Programs

Coaching is intended to help people draw on their strengths and develop and maintain behaviors that allow them to meet thier obligations and responsibiities with success and satisfaction.  As an organization coaching helps avoid costly turnover, as you invest in and develop your most talented people, and ensure that managers perform at their optimum. The following coaching programs are designed with the organization, and their most valuable asset [people] in mind. You can expect to see a positive change in a person's behaviour within just a few months following commencement of a coaching engagement.

Coaching for Advancement

The primary source of competitive advantage for any organization is the ability to attract and develop qualified talent—and this is a growing concern. Especially the need for talented managers and leaders. More recent studies have shown that having the right talent in place will become even more critical over the next five years and beyond as "baby boomers" move toward retirement. The importance of retaining the best and ensuring their success will continue to increase.

Usually lasting three to six months in duration, Coaching for Advancement helps high potential employees move into new management roles with increased responsibilities. The objective is simply to identify and leverage strengths, recognize barriers and blind spots, and close the gaps, while serving to enhance the potential for success. Working with the coachee and supervisor, we are able to make certain that all expectations for the new role are clear and well defined. This is achieved by:

  • Seeking to understand the job expectations and the required capabilities; to do this, we use your organization's success factors and management input.
  • Involving the manager of the individual (and other key stakeholders) so that the coachee has the right support; this also ensures proper feedback and guidance as the person practices new skills.
  • Giving high potential employees "stretch assignments" in order to learn; emphasis is placed on practical experience. Simply put, we will push their boundaries and challenge them.
  • Including measurement in the coaching plan to evaluate progress.
  • Acting as a safe place and sounding board while providing focus, feedback and guidance.

Mentor Coaching

The expression "life is lonely at the top" is true for so many individuals in leadership roles. It can be difficult to find collegial support and real understanding for those in a senior manager or leadership role. And often times asking for help is not a strong characteristic of these high achieving individuals.

As a former senior executive I understand the demands facing those who are in a professional, managerial, or leadership role in today's world.

For those individuals who are feeling under pressure and alone, having someone to talk to away from critical eyes may be just what the doctor ordered. This is Mentor Coaching—specifically designed for those in roles that involve managing and leading.

Stress Coaching

In today’s complex world, stress has become the leading contributor to absenteeism and diminished productivity in the workplace.

More than 25 years of research at the Hans Selye Foundation/Canadian Institute of Stress through clinical studies in their Body Age program, is evidence that when stress runs out of control it can sap vitality and weaken the immune system. The Institute’s research on more than 3,000 individuals demonstrates how stress overload undermines health and rapidly increases the aging process. The impact is pervasive—affecting one’s personal and professional life.

Assessing the hidden costs of stress-related issues before they impact the bottom line is a sound investment for any organization. Stress resiliency is unique for each individual, as an individuals’ response to stress is determined by his/her personality and mental attitude along with the context or situation.

Most employers understand the hidden costs of employee stress overload: decreased productivity, interpersonal conflict, sick leave and even long-term disability. There is however, good news. Stress overload and its’ implications are both preventable and reversible.

As a Certified Stress & Wellness Consultant trained through the Canadian Institute of Stress, I administer the best stress assessment in the field. And, I am able to guide your organization through the implementation of a simple program designed and proven to increase stress resiliency and boost the Vitality Quotient of each individual.

Assessment services are administered on an individual basis and include coaching for the development of a personal wellness program designed to render true results. In addition, consulting services for teams or departments are customized to address contextual issues.

In simple terms—stress resiliency programs pay for themselves in increased productivity and higher employee satisfaction rates.

Remedial Intervention

In a situation requiring remedial intervention, I recommend that we first undertake a comprehensive diagnosis of the situation. This generally includes a discussion with the manager, use of an individual assessment, and if necessary, stakeholder or multi-rater feedback. I then work with the individuals involved to help illuminate the need for change through the identification of less than desirable behaviours and demonstrate the impact of these behaviours—on both the individuals involved and the organization.

Together, we will work toward practical solutions to the problems and provide direct and objective feedback, either in person or over the telephone.

Remedial activities are aligned with healthy feedback mechanisms, where the individuals involved are able to receive input from others and through assessment results.

Coaching activities are tailored to assure performance enhancement. These may include assigned readings for discussions, role-plays, and facilitated meetings to engage in the process of sharing feedback between and individual and supervisor or manager. Those who participate in remedial intervention are held accountable for making certain that action is taken to generate meaningful and positive change. This process requires the involvement of the individual and manager from the onset, with progress checkpoints along the way to ensure the desirable results are being achieved.

My philosophy is to be direct and, at the same time, support and maintain the self-esteem of each individual involved in remedial intervention.

Career Transition Coaching

Although everyone’s experience with career transition is unique, the perspectives, tools, and support that I offer ensure a much smoother transition and positive results.

As an experienced certified career coach I am able to guide the individual through a coaching program is designed specifically to meet the unique situation. This particular coaching process begins with a discovery session during which time the coachee and I co-create a program designed to offer support through the transition process.

The career transition coaching program ensures that the individual is accompanied on their journey toward finding new perspectives, while pushing beyond barriers, as well as blind spots, toward the achievement of new goals that reflect a redefined career path.

As a result, individuals will cultivate the skills necessary to maximize their strengths and talents, identify opportunities, create inspired solutions, lever important relationships, and generate greater impact.
