Women's Careers: Coping With Stress

Last night a client shared a recent stressful situation and then asked "what kinds of things should I be doing to cope?"  Great question, the answer to which is very dependant on one's personality.  Every individual experiences a stressful situation differently i.e. what fills me with dread may be a challenge for you.  Our response to a stressor depends on our personality. It is the same with coping techniques.  We need to choose coping technique(s) that fit for us. The thinker type of person may wish to assess the situation and then implement coping actions on her own.  The feeler type of individual may choose to seek support from others or distract herself with activities.  The important thing is to intentionally chose a coping technique that fits your personality and your style.
